Email List Building Strategies

Email List Building Strategies – You need a list. That’s a given. It’s the one thing above all else that matters most. Because you can market to your list whenever you want. Just push a button and print money – literally.

OK, but how? There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:

  • Your Landing Page
  • The Bribe
  • The Opt-in Success Page

Your Landing Page – Your opt-in page is the page you send visitors to to build your list. This is where they will enter their email address. This page needs to look professional. It’s also got to be free from distractions. And your call to action must be clear!

The biggest mistake you can make is not having a clear call to action. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. And if you don’t include it, they won’t opt in. It’s strange, but if you don’t tell people what to do, they won’t do it.

One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to make it a video squeeze page. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. Plus it give you a chance to tell them to opt in multiple times. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.

Now, don’t worry if you have no idea how to make videos. It’s very easy to hire people for a couple hundred bucks to make one for you. There are also list building systems that include video squeeze pages.

The Bribe – The next thing you need is an incentive to subscribe to your list. People need a good reason to part with their email address. Nobody likes spam, so most people guard their email closely. This means your bribe needs to be very attractive.

The only way to make this work is to provide real value. It has to be something that people actually want. And will be able to actually benefit from it. A few ideas:

  • A report
  • Some useful software
  • Training videos
  • An email series

Basically, you just need some content. And make it both helpful and informative. And nothing sells like “free”. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.

Now, if you don’t know how to create the bribe don’t worry. You can just pay someone else to make it for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. For example, you could have them write a 5-part email course. And you can get emails ghost written for about $20 – $25 each. So, a great premium will cost you around $100 – $150.

Or again, you can find complete list building packages for sale online that include an email series. There are two important things about the email series. First of all it has to give the subscriber what you promised – valuable information. It also has to generate revenue for you! The easiest way to do this is to market affiliate products in the emails. This allows you to get started with no products of your own. And you can earn some commissions immediately from your emails.

Your Confirmation Page – The last bit is the thank you page. This is where your visitor goes after opting into your list. It’s a great idea to give them some valuable information right on the thank you page. That way, they feel glad that they gave you their email address. And it helps you establish the relationship. So when they get your email, they’re happy to hear from you.

Again, a simple solution to this is to get an email marketing package that includes everything. Or you can go the DIY route. And write it all yourself. Or have someone ghost write for you.

In closing – It doesn’t matter if you do all of this yourself. Or pay a freelancer to write produce it all for you. Or go with a complete package. The key is to start building your list. Because as soon as you’ve got your own list . . . You’re free to make money at the push of a button.
